Guide to Living Nativity Scenes in Catalonia

2026-2027 season

Ardèvol Living Nativity 2026

The Ardèvol Living Nativity 2026 transports you to the heart of Solsonès. This village of barely a hundred inhabitants manages to mobilize nearly 200 actors to create one of the most authentic representations of Catalonia, divided between the Roman world and an 18th-century Catalan village. Check out all the logistical information to plan your visit.

The Experience: A journey in two stages

The route takes advantage of the streets, unique squares and the surroundings of the medieval tower of Ardèvol and consists of two parts:

  • First part (Biblical): The classic scenes of ancient Palestine are represented there, from the Annunciation to the Temple. Families should look out for a friendly, real-life "caganer" hidden by the organizers. Can you spot him?
  • Second part (18th century): A spectacular leap in time where you can literally step inside churches, convents and homes where traditional farm work, woodcutting and period trades are represented.

Times and dates of the Nativity of Ardèvol

  • Fixed dates: Traditionally, the central days usually fall on December 20, 26 and 27, extending the season to the first days of January (usually the 2nd and 3rd).
  • Performance times: Shifts are grouped with the arrival of darkness, usually at 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM.

Tickets and prices

Ticket sales usually open officially in December. Due to the high interest, we recommend keeping an eye on their official channels to buy them in advance.

  • General admission: Historically set around €15.
  • What it includes: The price allows you to experience the staging and, at the end, round off the experience by enjoying authentic toasted bread with sausage around the fire, where local artisan products are also offered.

How to get there and parking

  • Where to park: The route starts around the Cultural and social center. Parking in the town center is very limited; parking is available in areas near the medieval tower. It is absolutely necessary to arrive at least 45 minutes in advance to guarantee a place and access it with peace of mind.

Practical information and pets

  • Pets: The animal access policy is not officially published. It is recommended to contact the organization before traveling there.
  • Weather: In case of heavy rain, the nativity scene could undergo modifications. Always check social media or contact directly if the weather is unfavorable.

Where to eat in the area

Remember that the organization already offers a consistent toast with sausage at the end of the visit. However, if you are looking to sit down for lunch or dinner in the village itself, you should know that the choice is extremely limited. The best option is:

  • Cal Bosch: Traditional restaurant in the village itself of Ardèvol. On living-nativity performance days, it is absolutely essential to reserve a table several weeks in advance due to the large number of visitors that the region receives.
