Sant Cugat del Vallès (Arxiu Històric) Living Nativity
The Sant Cugat del Vallès Living Nativity was traditionally a much-loved event for local families. The event is currently paused, with no official confirmation for the current Christmas season. We are keeping this page as a historical record and will update it if the organisers resume the activity.
The tradition: From Plaça de l'Om to the Monastery
When the performance was in full operation, the great appeal of this nativity scene was the use of the spectacular heritage environment of the city. The classic itinerary traced the biblical scenes starting with the central one Plaza de l'Om and progressed slowly until culminating in the imposing external gardens of the Monastery of Sant Cugat.
It was an event very focused on the enjoyment of children, accompanied by live music and traditional songs and a scenography that took advantage of the thousand-year-old architecture of the walls of the monastic enclosure to bring life to Christmas night.
